Circle of Sanity formed in September of
2008, combining an array of styles.
They were brought together by fate, friends, and a little luck, and
ever since then they have been writing new material, performing
songs written by individual members before the band came together,
and playing shows locally and regionally. They've done everything
from 50 seat bars to 1000 seat clubs.
The single "Pictures" has been
getting spins on local rock station 105.7 the X and was also
licensed for use in a commercial. The band's first recording was an
EP recorded at Barber Shop Studios in Hopatcong, NJ with the late,
great Grammy winner Jason Corsaro. The first full length album was
released in 2013. It was tracked at After 7 Studios with Robert
Richardson and co-produced and mixed by Grammy award winner John
Seymour (Alice in Chains, Dave Matthews, Santana).
Many talented members have come and gone over the years, but
original founding member, singer, songwriter, lead guitarist, and
craftsman of the C.O.S. sound
Josh Sapna continued the legacy of
Circle of Sanity with a collaboration with bassist Carson Slovak and
Grant McFarland of Atrium Audio and Galactic Empire for a searing EP
called "Celestial Mechanics",
recorded at Think Loud Studios in York, PA and released in the
summer of 2019.
After that, for the first time in their history, founding members
Josh Sapna (Guitar/Bass/Vocals) and
Kevin Horner (Drums) added keyboards
into the group in a major way. Classical/prog metal keyboard legend
Vitalij Kuprij of Trans-Siberian
Orchestra, who spent the last couple of years releasing his latest
solo album, Progression, as well as releases with prog-metal outfits
Majustice and Ring of Fire, came aboard and officially joined Circle
of Sanity.
Sadly, Vitalij passed away in February of 2024, but Sapna recorded
and produced all the tracks that Vitalij contributed and finally got
with the right people (Dan Malsch and Shaun Werle) to polish and mix
everything for the late summer 2026 release of the EP titled
"Trifecta" (The VK Sessions).
Sapna continues to evolve as he works with various musicians and
artists to keep forging ahead with new music.
